The Mathews County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.
Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Mathews County improve their lives.
We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.
Become a 4-H Volunteer
Inspire the next generation -- become a 4-H volunteer! Do you have a passion or a hobby? Do you enjoy working with kids? Does it make you smile to see someone learn? If you answer yes to any of these questions, you have what it takes to be a 4-H volunteer.
4-H programs look to volunteers to help our young people learn the skills they need to prepare for their futures while also having fun. You don't need to have experience. You don't need to make a long-term commitment or even devote a large amount of time. Training and support will be provided through our office. Give us a call to learn more! 804-725-7196
